Isla Ometepe is a part of the Maribios mountain range and is characterized by two towering volcanoes, the Concepcion and the Maderas. Altagracia one of two municipalities on the island. It is located 25 kms from the port of Moyogalpa, and 30 minutes from San Jose del Sur. These are the two ports that service the island.Thes municipality of Altagracia has jurisdiction over 31 urban towns and 30 rural towns. Since all services are located within its urban area, Altagracia is both the commercial and population center.
