About San Juan del Sur

San Juan del Sur is a small port town on the southern Pacific coast of Nicaragua, about 40 kilometers north of Costa Rica. It attracts visitors from all over the world for its beautiful beaches and spectacular sunsets, and is a favorite destination for Nicaraguans looking to spend a weekend at the beach. Despite the tourism, it is still very much a Nica town where you can experience real Nicaraguan culture while you work on your Spanish.

Activities around town include fishing, surfing, canopy tours, hiking, or just lying around on the beach or in a hammock. There are a number of internet places in town so you can keep in touch with the rest of the world. If and when you need to get away to speak English and eat french fries, there are places for that, too.
